Covid-19: 'None of us is free unless everyone is secure;' United Nations chief; Nation pledge $8 billion for medicinal research
UNITED NATION: Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has announced that it is the world of interconnecting partnerships in which "none of us is secure until we are protected that demands the most significant public health initiative in history."

His statements on Monday, as the world leaders promised €7.4 billion (approximately $8.2 billion) to fund scientific science and technology to combat the Covid-19, which has killed 2.5 lakhs and affected over 3.6 million people worldwide.

Guterres pointed out that the World Health Organisation (WHO) and a range of leading countries have launched a major effort last month to boost the technological progress required to monitor the coronavirus, known as the ACT Accelerator.

He welcomed the ACT Accelerator's support and launch – a global breakthrough partnership to speed up growth, manufacturing and equal access to modern Covid 19 therapeutics, vaccines and diagnostics.

The United Nations Chief said the new tools would lead to the global management of the pandemic and should be regarded as public goods for everyone.

"In order to delay migration and to save lives, systematic, organized public health initiatives are necessary. Nevertheless, only countries which have taken these measures remain at risk. And several countries that are least able to cope are possibly being hit by the virus. None of us is stable in a linked world before we are all free, "he said.

While discussing the EU commitment conference conducted while Brussels, Guterres announced that the Covid-19 pandemic has to be resolved "the greatest public safety campaign in history."
